Importance of a routine
Skin care routine is the last thing on your mind when you’re a busy mum. Quite often I will hear my friends with newborn complain of not having time to shower some days much less keep up a skin care routine. Usually when things have settled down at home is when new mums will realise how disrupted their skin has become. By then mums don’t know where to start to bring their skin back into balance. This is all starting to sound daunting but there are ways to bring back some normality to your skin and life. A few simple steps with some easy products used in the shower are a great start. I would also recommend a couple hours at a spa after all that work at home to revive yourself and your skin. A kick start is just what you need!
Dual use products
Look for products that have dual uses, i.e.: exfoliating cleansers and masques that can be used similar to a moisturiser at night once a week. Go organic! Organic products are best used around babies and children to reduce chemical count on your body especially if you are breast feeding or pregnant with another baby. Why is organic important? Organic products reduce petro chemicals in the body which are found in tumours and cancers (not good for a developing foetus). It also messes with your hormones creating xeno-oestrogens (foreign man made hormones, causing excessive oestrogen levels) in the body. This not only applies to topical products but food, bottled water and plastic. This can also begin to disrupt hormones in little girls during their childhood, leading to early puberty. Most cosmetic companies say these chemicals are safe when used in small amounts but if a range of products are used i.e.: shampoo, conditioner, cleanser, hair product, creams, deodorant, make up, laundry detergent, hand wash every day, twice a day, over time it builds up in your system increasing free radical damage and causing havoc.
Hormones
How do we address hormonal changes in skin? This can be tricky especially in pigmentation where it is a case of waiting for your hormones to re-balance. To balance out hormonal acne, the Eminence Eight Greens Youth Serum and Moisturiser is recommended. It takes approximately 90 days for your skin to completely regenerate to see full results and from experience it was the time frame when hormonal acne cleared. Nothing is a quick fix but with proper use of products and patience, your skin will improve within a reasonable time frame.
Eminence Organic Skin Care starter sets gives you a complete routine and you have the option of trying a certain line of creams for your skin type whether dry, sensitive, oily or anti aging.
